Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a polymer, made by polymerizing Acrylonitrile and styrene in the presence of Butadiene. In general composition is half of styrene and the balanced is divided into acrylonitrile and butadiene. By varying the usual composition of ABS various grades of ABS can be formed with a wide range of features and applications.

The adoption of low weight consumer materials, for end users substituting the heavy materials is mainly behind the extensive growth of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) market. The Abs is being widely used in transportation sector and due the growth of automobile sector the demand for Abs is also increasing.

The North American Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene market in terms of value is projected to reach $2,326 million by 2019 from $1950 million in 2014, at a CAGR of nearly 4% from 2014 to 2019. The growing manufacturing industries, growing automobile sector and the replacement of heavy weight consumer materials to low weight consumer materials are some of the key factors driving the market growth. On the other hand, dynamic pricing of butadiene and the components which are used for manufacturing ABS are expected to restrain the market growth in the coming years.

Based on applications the ABS market has been segmented into transportation, electrical and electronics, consumer goods and appliances and other applications. Consumer goods and appliances held the largest market share of nearly 50% in 2014. This segment would continue to dominate the market, although the transportation segment is projected to grow at a faster CAGR during the forecast period, 2014 to 2019. The lightweight and heavy strength of the abs materials are some of the major reasons for the growth of this market.

Based on geography the ABS market is segmented to U.S., Canada and Mexico. U.S. held the largest market share among the regions and continues to be dominating the market during the forecasted period 2014-2019. In terms of growth rate Canada is projected to grow at a faster CAGR during the forecast period

The key players in the North American Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene market include SABIC innovative plastic (Saudi Arabia), Ineos ABS (Switzerland), Styrolution (Germany), Styron LLc (U.S.) and BASF (Germany).
