The Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbons gases, such as propane and butane. These gases are extracted from crude oil and natural gas. The residential/commercial application of LPG accounted for more than 40% of the total market share in 2014, whereas the auto gas applications is expected to grow at the highest CAGR of 4.9% for the forecasted period, hence is expected to drive the growth of the Eurasian LPG market.

The Eurasian LPG market was valued at $36.5 billion in 2014. The Netherlands and Russia are the major market in terms of market size constituting approximately 38.0% of the total Eurasian LPG market. The stringent automobile emission standards applied by the Eurasian countries are forcing the people to look for the cleaner sources of fuels. LPG results in lower carbon emission which replaces the conventionally used gasoline in automobiles used in the region.

Refineries are considered to be the largest source of LPG having accounted approximately 43.0% market share in 2014. The non-associated gas is the second largest source of LPG in Eurasia. The non-associated gases source of LPG is expected to grow at the highest CAGR in the forecast period. This is attributed to the growing importance of LPG in the region which is forcing the companies to opt for primary sources of LPG like non-associated gases.

The major countries included in the Eurasian LPG market are, Russia, The Netherlands, the U.K., and France. There is an increase in consumption of LPG particularly during the winter season as LPG is primarily used in these countries to keep their homes warm.

Major companies operating in this market are adopting strategies such as agreements, joint ventures, partnerships, and others in order to strengthen their presence across various countries. Other major factors that the companies are focussing on are operational efficiency, strong distribution network, and innovation.

Some of the key players such as Gazprom (Russia), Total S.A. (France), and Royal Dutch Shell (Netherlands), have accounted more than 40.0% market share in 2014.
