The Global Ethanolamine Market, along with its end products, has witnessed a linear growth in the past few years and this growth is estimated to increase in the coming years. Ethanolamine is a toxic, flammable, corrosive, colorless, viscous liquid with an odor similar to that of ammonia. Ethanolamine is an organic chemical compound that is both a primary amine and a primary alcohol, due to the hydroxyl group, having application in a wide range of industries. It is produced by reacting ethylene oxide with aqueous ammonia. Ethanolamines are used as feedstock in the production of detergents, emulsifiers, polishes, pharmaceuticals, corrosion inhibitors, and chemical intermediates.

Ethanolamine is commonly called monoethanolamine or MEA in order to be distinguished from diethanolamine (DEA) and triethanolamine (TEA). The ethanolamine market is experiencing enormous growth which is expected to continue in the near future. This growth is mainly driven by the highly growing Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America regions as well as the intense efforts at country level to promote environment-friendly and recyclable products. Considerable amount of investments are made by various market players to serve the end-user applications industry in the future.

The North America region is the main ethanolamine market accounting for about 33.9% market share of the total global demand in 2014. The region is further expected to continue showing high growth in future mainly due to the high growth potential of the agriculture market in the U.S. and Canada. Almost 34.6% of the total ethanolamine demand was for the personal care applications in 2014. The textile chemicals industry is the fastest growing end-use segments, primarily due to high penetration in all the regions.

The drivers of the industry are: increasing demand in the herbicide, detergent, and personal care industries; low cost of production; and the ever rising demand in the developing economies of APAC and Europe.

This study estimated the global market of ethanolamine for 2014 and aims to project its demand by 2019. It provides a detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis of the global ethanolamine market. Various secondary sources such as encyclopedia, directories, industry journals, and databases have been used to identify and collect information useful for the extensive commercial study of the ethanolamine market. The primary sources, which include experts from related industries and suppliers, have been interviewed to obtain and verify critical information as well as to assess the future prospects of ethanolamine.

Competitive scenarios of the top players in the ethanolamine market have been discussed in detail. Leading players of this industry have been profiled with their recent developments and other strategic industry activities. They include key ethanolamine manufacturers, such as BASF SE (Germany), Dow Chemical Corporation (U.S.), Akzo Nobel (The Netherlands), Huntsman Corporation (U.S.), SINOPEC (China), and others.

Ethanolamine, a hydroxy-amine, is produced by reaction between ammonia (NH3) and ethylene oxide (EO). Ethanol amines are used in a large number of industrial and commercial applications. Major applications include surfactants/detergents, ethylene amines, gas treatment, herbicides, textiles, cement additives, and glyphosate. Ethanol amines are categorized under three major groups, namely monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA).
