A brake is nothing but a mechanical device which stops motion. The most common types of brakes are disc brakes and drum brakes. A disc brake is nothing but a wheel brake to slow or stop the rotation of a wheel using brake pads, brake disc, and brake calipers. A drum brake on the other hand uses a set of brake shoes which are pushed against the outer cover, which is in the shape of a drum, to stop the vehicle.
