Proteins are large biological molecules, or macromolecules, consisting of one or more long chains of amino acid residues performing a vast array of functions within living organisms. A soy protein is isolated from soybean. It is made from a soybean meal, which is processed into three kinds of high protein commercial products: soy flour, concentrates, and isolates. Soybean protein is a ‘complete protein’ as it provides all of the essential amino acids for human nutrition.

It is one of the least expensive sources of dietary protein and is the most preferred substitute to meat protein. It is widely used in the food & beverage industry, e.g. salad dressings, soups, meat analogues, beverage powders, cheeses, nondairy creamer, frozen desserts, whipped topping, infant formulas, breads, breakfast cereals, pastas, and pet foods. It is also used in adhesives, asphalts, resins, cleaning materials, cosmetics, inks, pleather, paints, paper coatings, pesticides/fungicides, plastics, polyesters, and textile fibers. It prevents osteoarthritis and colon cancer and also reduces cholesterol level.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the European market for soy protein. This report includes revenue forecasts, market trends, and opportunities for the period from 2014 to 2019. The analysis has been conducted on the various market segments derived on the basis of application of soy protein and further segmented on the basis of type of soy protein.

The Europe soy protein market was valued at $1,658.0 million in 2014. It is projected to reach $2,189.49 million by 2019 at a CAGR of 5.7% during the forecast period. The market, by application, was led by meat alternatives in 2014, with a 34.73% share. Meat alternatives are mostly used as animal protein substitutes but functional food has the highest CAGR% for the estimated period.
