A phosphatic fertilizer is a sum of phosphorous that is soluble in water and citrate solution, which is used for crops with restricted root systems, for starter fertilizers and also for soil that has been tested low in optimum phosphorus levels. Phosphorus deficiencies can be corrected using phosphatic fertilizers (P2O5). Phosphatic fertilizers are used to optimize plant vigor, for assimilation of nitrogen by plants, and to increase plant resistance against cold, drought, and so on.

The phosphatic fertilizers market is segmented on the basis of type and application. On the basis of type, it is classified into diammonium phosphate, monoammonium phosphate, and superphosphate. The diammonium phosphate fertilizers segment is the most widely used phosphatic fertilizer in the European phosphatic fertilizers market.

The European phosphatic fertilizers market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 1.4% in the forecast period. The European phosphatic fertilizers market was dominated by Spain with a market share of 16.6% in 2013. Europe is one of the most significant and fastest growing exporters of wheat and other grains. The agricultural policy has always supported the expansion in production by promoting the use of fertilizers and pesticides.  This increases the demand for phosphatic fertilizers.
