A thin-film photovoltaic cell (TFPV) is a type of solar cell that is made by depositing one or more thin film (TF) of photovoltaic material on a substrate, such as plastic, glass, or metal. The film thickness varies from a few nanometers (nm) to tens of micrometers (µm), which is much thinner than the conventional crystalline silicon solar cell that uses silicon wafers of up to 200 µm. This allows thin film cells to be of lower weight, flexible, less drag, and limited resistance to foot traffic.

Rising energy costs, along with changing climate, such as increasing temperature of earth are increasing focus towards renewable energy sources, which includes solar photovoltaic technologies. Thin film photovoltaic is the second generation of photovoltaic, which is gaining importance and its market share in the solar photovoltaic market is increasing because of optimum efficiency at low cost.

Asia-Pacific is one of the growing markets in thin film photovoltaic (PV) market. Low cost of production, optimum efficiency, growing demand, and shorter energy payback time are some of the factors that are driving the thin-film photovoltaic market in Asia-Pacific. The technical benefits of thin film PV, such as flexibility and better performance in low light conditions are other reasons for rapid growth of the market.

The market is segmented and forecast based on type of thin film PV cells and modules, such as amorphous silicon (a-Si), cadmium telluride (CdTe), copper indium diselenide/copper indium gallium diselenide (CIS/CIGS), and others.

Market share analysis, by revenue, of the top companies is also included in the report. The market share analysis of these key players is arrived at, based on key facts, annual financial information, and interviews with key opinion leaders, such as CEOs, directors, and marketing executives.

In order to present an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape, the report on thin film photovoltaic (PV) in Asia-Pacific consists of company profiles of the key market players. This report also includes the value chain analyses, along with the market metrics, such as drivers and restraints.
