Aplenzin (buproplon hydrobromide) and Cantil are the two brominated medicines manufactured by Sanofi. Aplenzin tablet is an aminoketone antidepressant. It is used to treat major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder in adults. Cantil tablets contain a specific amount of mepenzolate bromide USP. Cantil tablets are used to reduce gastric acid and pepsin secretion. It is used as an adjunctive therapy for treating peptic ulcer.

Israel Chemicals operates in three business segments, namely Fertilizers, Industrial, and Performance products. The company along with its subsidiaries manufactures bromine and bromine-based compounds or products. The company employs more than 12,280 people and is headquartered at Tel Aviv, Israel. The company operates globally through its subsidiaries, with a strong presence in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.

In 2012, ICL consolidated its flame retardant products portfolio with IMCD Group B.V. (U.K. & Ireland). IMCD's strong presence in main markets helped ICL to promote its products in the U.K. and Ireland.

In addition to this, in December 2011, ICL bought 50% stake of Tetrabrom Technologies (Israel). Tetrabrom is the joint venture of ICL and Chemtura Corp (U.S.). This acquisition is expected to strengthen the former’s revenues from bromine.
