Europe Acoustic Wave Sensor Market by Sensing Parameter (Temperature, Pressure, Mass, Torque, Humidity, Viscosity, Chemical Vapor), by Application (Automotive, Military &Aerospace, Consumer Electronics, Healthcare, Industrial) & Geography - Analysis & Forecast To 2019

A sensor is used to measure (sense) an environment and converts this information into a digital or analogue data signal that can be interpreted by a computer or observer. And an acoustic wave sensor is an electronic device that can measure sound levels. They are called acoustic wave sensors because their detection mechanism is a mechanical (or acoustic) wave. When an acoustic wave (input) travels through a certain material or along the surface of a material, it is influenced by the different material properties and obstacles it travels through. Any changes to the characteristics of this travelling path affect the velocity and/or amplitude of the wave. These characteristics are translated into a digital signal (output) using transducers. These changes can be monitored by measuring the frequency or phase characteristics of the sensor. These changes can then be translated to the corresponding physical differences being measured.

All acoustic wave sensors are sensitive to changes from many different physical parameters. These sensors are often used in the consumer electronics industry. All acoustic wave devices manufactured for the consumer electronics industry must be hermetically sealed to prevent any disturbances as these disturbances will be sensed by the device and cause an unwanted change in output. These sensors can be used as pressure, mass, thickness, torque, shock, acceleration, viscosity, displacement, flow and force detectors under an applied stress that changes the dynamics of the object it travels through. Sensors can also detect mechanical failures or hick-ups such as grinding of components. Other applications are the monitoring of closed systems in other numerous industries such as water pipe lines irregularities, turbulences, and noise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems and pressure fluctuations. The sensors also have an acoustic electric sensitivity, allowing the detection of pH levels, ionic contaminants, and electric fields.

Though acoustic wave sensors have fewer uses in daily life, mostly in consumer electronic devices, they are highly implemented in industrial applications such as gas borne high intensity sound pressure level measurements, industrial turbine pressure monitoring, and also to measure turbine combustor dynamics in various oil & gas companies.

The acoustic wave sensor market in Europe is expected to rise at a subsequent level and is expected to reach $306.8 million in market share by the year 2019, at a CAGR of 18% from 2013 to 2019. An increase in automobile market in the U.K. is going to boost the demand for acoustic wave sensors thereby affecting the markets of Germany, France, & Italy and, by 2019, the United Kingdom market will experience moderate balanced growth in GDP followed by low inflation and falling unemployment.

A lot of companies like Siemens, Honeywell International, TDK Corporation, CTS Corporation, and Crane Aerospace & Electronics are embarking on the acoustic wave sensor business in European region to drive revenue and organization goals. These companies are investing in this growing market in order to gain higher profits and increase their shares in the European market.
