In September 2011, LG Chem Limited planned to expand its acrylic acid plant in Yeosu to a capacity of 360.0 KT by 2012. This resulted in the company meeting the demand for 2-EH acrylate esters and 2-EH, which are manufactured from acrylic acid.

China holds the largest share of the Asia-Pacific 2-EH market. This large share is attributed to various factors, such as increasing use of plasticizers, 2-EH nitrate, 2-EH acrylate, and other applications of 2-EH in the country.
